ENTRY II — A MUSE

Anna — a ballerina, a bag, a woman worth celebrating

This International Women’s Day, we shine a light on Anna Pavlova, the muse behind the Studio DRÈA Anna bucket bag.

A study in movement, memory, and the soles — perhaps even the souls — that carry us forward.

Some names belong not only to a person, but to a path, a place, a physical object, or even a purpose.

Anna Pavlova did more than perform — she travelled. Across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Australia. She carried ballet beyond the grand theatres of its origins into new territories, leaving traces of movement wherever she stepped. Her legacy does not live only in archives; it lives in the routes she carved across the world.

It is fitting, then, that Anna lends both name and inspiration to our Sole Collection.

Soles are what we walk on. They absorb weight, endure repetition, and quietly carry us forward. In ballet, the sole of the pointe shoe is both foundation and sacrifice. Over time, the pointe shoe has evolved — its structure refined, strengthened, re-engineered — while still honouring its origins. Heritage, infused with innovation.

Our Anna follows that same philosophy.

Within the Sole Collection, we study and reinterpret the anatomy of the pointe shoe — its base, its structure, its hidden strength. Elements that once supported the dancer are reimagined in Italian leather. What was once purely functional becomes sculptural. The past is not copied; it is translated.

Pavlova’s name itself travelled far beyond the stage. It lives in ballet schools, in cultural memory, and even on the dessert table. The pavlova — claimed by both Australia and New Zealand — was created in her honour during her tours there, a meringue said to echo her lightness. A dancer’s movement becoming myth, recipe, ritual — proof that certain presences travel further than the stage that first carried them.

Anna, our bag, stands within that lineage of reinterpretation. Grounded yet fluid. Structured yet expressive. Crafted with intention so that form supports freedom — just as the sole of the pointe shoe makes elevation possible for every ballerina.

The Sole Collection honours what once carried us. Anna carries us forward.
